Coming from a large family, he was a hard worker since an early age. Then at 13, he worked at a grocery store in downtown Brownsville owned by the late Cipriano Martinez. He married his sweetheart, the love of his life, Victoria in 1959. Later they traveled to Ohio where he worked for the Hunts Corporation as a quality control manager. He moved back to Brownsville in the late 60’s where he was employed for Coca Cola Bottling Company for 40 years. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Z. Martinez; his son, Ray (Martha) Martinez; and grandson, Philip R. Martinez.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by committal service at Buena Vista Burial Park.
