With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Pedro Soto Peña our beloved husband, father, grandfather (papawelo), friend and mechanic that entered eternal rest on February 13, 2026, at the age of 82 leaving behind a void that can never be filled. His departure has left us with a deep sense of loss and sadness.
He is preceded in death by his father Pedro Soto (I), his mother Rita Peña, his sisters Catalina, Mayela and Licha and his brother Gerardo Soto Peña.
Pedro Soto Peña was born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico and resided in Brownsville, Texas since the late 1980s. He lived a life full of passion, purpose, kindness, love and laughter.
As a devoted father, Pedro Soto Peña nurtured a loving and close-knit family. He was the husband of Juana P Soto (wife) and together they created a beautiful legacy. He is survived by Bertha Cecilia Soto (daughter), Alberto T. Soto (son) and Ana Soto (daughter-in-law), Cesar Soto (son) and (daughter-in-law), Ivonne Soto (daughter) and Enrique Saiz (son-in-law) and his grandchildren Sophia Saiz, Mashenka Saiz and Alexander Soto that were always his pride and joy. His warm presence and unconditional love will forever be missed by his family, relatives and also his brothers and sisters in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico.
A master of his trade, Mr. Soto, was known for his ability to fix just about anything. He worked for several dealerships in Mexico, Houston and in Brownsville with expertise on Ford, Chrysler, Chevrolet and his favorite make Volkswagen. Whether it was a classic maintenance repair or a routine oil change, his work was his signature.
Beyond the shop, “Don Peter” (as his son-in-law would joke with him) was a passionate for carrying conversations full of laughs, jokes, life events and music. He loved spending time with family and in the later years with his grandchildren. He will be remembered when we hear any of the Los Cadetes de Linares songs and we will sure miss his “Ayyayay”s and “Formense” statements.
