Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and pastor was born to Pedro and Luisa Gonzales on March 28, 1935. Pete was a native of San Benito Texas until he met Hilda, the love of his life. The two were married on November 21, 1959 and shortly thereafter, made Brownsville their home for life. Pete proudly served as a field representative with the Social Security Administration for over thirty years and made countless friendships along the way. After retiring from the Social Security Administration, Pete continued his service to the aged and disabled population as a caseworker with the Texas Department of Human Services for over seven years. True to the population that he so passionately served, in 1996 Pete opened and operated Abundant Life Home Health, Inc., a home health care agency dedicated to providing in-home provider services and/or skilled nursing services to aged and/or disabled individuals in the Rio Grande Valley. Long after his office staff employees went home after a good day’s work, Pete continued working into the late hours of each night as evidenced by his white car in the parking lot. “Pop, it’s 10 oclock at night and I just got a report that your car is still in the parking lot…….ok mijo, ahorita me voy para la casa”. However, his business was not his only passion. Compelled by a spiritual calling which revealed to him “el pueblo padece por falta de entendimiento”, Pete also created the Cristo Jesus La Luz del Mundo Church in 1996, where he tirelessly dedicated himself to predicate the word of God to God’s children as Pastor of the church. Pete was deeply loved and will be missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents,(Luisa and Pedro Gonzales) three sisters , Celia, Genoveva, Basilia and one brother, Luis. Pete was deeply loved and will be missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories of his existence are his faithful wife of 54 years, Hilda Gonzales; his three children: Frederick (Norma) Gonzales , Yvonne G. (Robert) Coronado, and Jaime Gonzales, five grandchildren which he adored Marcelina Gonzales, Jacqueline Gonzales, Jasmin Carina Castañon, Robert Christian Coronado, and John Frederick Gonzales; five sisters Audencia, Elisa, Sarah, Dora, Mary Lou and three brothers Ovidio, Ricardo, Ramiro.
