Reyna C Nuñez

With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of Reyna Nuñez, who was born in San Nicolás, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Isauro and Dolores Candanoza. Reyna was a devoted daughter, loving mother, cherished grandmother, treasured great-grandmother, and a faithful servant of God whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Reyna’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her three daughters unconditionally: Tere (Alvaro), Nelda (Gerardo), and Lety (Raul). She was immensely proud of her four beloved grandchildren: Nelda Sarai, Gerardo, Emma, and Judith, and found endless happiness in her eight precious great-grandchildren: Yorden, Lucas, Sophia, Romina, Joaquin, Rafael, Sylvia, and Nicolas. Each of them held a special place in her heart and was blessed by her unconditional love, wisdom, and gentle spirit.

To know Reyna was to know warmth, generosity, and hospitality. She had a remarkable gift for preparing authentic Mexican meals, and those fortunate enough to gather around her table will always remember that her cooking was simply the very best. Her home was filled with the aroma of love, laughter, and delicious meals that brought family and friends together. She believed that the best conversations happened around the dinner table, and she made everyone feel welcome.

Reyna was also a woman of extraordinary courage. Throughout her life, she faced numerous serious health challenges, yet time and again she emerged victorious through God’s grace. She never allowed adversity to define her. Instead, she met every trial with unwavering faith, remarkable resilience, and an unshakable trust in the Lord. She never gave up. Through every hardship, she demonstrated that true strength comes from God. She instilled in her daughters the courage to face life’s battles with confidence, reminding them to always be brave and to claim victory in Jesus’ name. Her life was a living testimony that with faith in God, no obstacle is greater than His power.

Reyna was a woman of deep faith and unwavering devotion. She treasured her parents and the values they instilled in her; faith in God, love for family, humility, compassion, and service to others. Those values became the foundation upon which she built her own family. Of all the gifts she left behind, her greatest legacy was teaching her daughters to always put God first. From their earliest years, she demonstrated through both words and actions what it meant to trust the Lord wholeheartedly, pray without ceasing, and live a life guided by His love and grace.

Although our hearts are filled with sorrow as we say goodbye, we also find peace in God’s promise of eternal life. We rejoice in knowing that Reyna has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, where she is free from pain, restored in perfect health, and surrounded by everlasting joy. While we will miss her deeply, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, courage, perseverance, compassion, and devotion to family.

As Scripture reminds us:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”

Mom, thank you for teaching us to love unconditionally, to serve others with humility, to persevere through every storm, and above all, to place God first in everything we do. Your faith has become our foundation, your courage our inspiration, and your love our greatest blessing. Though our hearts ache with your absence, we rejoice knowing that you have received your heavenly reward and are forever in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Until we meet again, we will carry your love, your faith, and your legacy in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, Chapel Of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, US, on July 29, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 5:00 pm and a Rosary at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1200 Lincoln St, Brownsville, Texas 78521, on July 30, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by Burial at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521, at 11:00 am.
