As he would often remind us, Roberto Delgado did not graduate from high school and lived with an ever-increasing list of health issues throughout his life. Yet, somehow, through sheer optimism, intelligence, good will, and faith in God, he lived to be almost 83, sustained a household until he died, cared for his wife for over 50 years, saw all three of his sons graduate from college, and welcomed eight grandchildren into his life. He set an example few will ever be able to match.
Como a menudo nos recordaba, Roberto Delgado no se graduó de la preparatoria y vivió con una lista cada vez más larga de problemas de salud a lo largo de su vida. Sin embargo, de alguna manera, a través de puro optimismo, inteligencia, buena voluntad y fe en Dios, vivió casi hasta los 83 años, mantuvo un hogar hasta su muerte, cuidó a su esposa durante más de 50 años, vio a sus tres hijos graduarse de la universidad, y le dio la bienvenida a ocho nietos. Él nos ha dado un ejemplo que pocos podrán igualar.
Roberto is survived by his sons Roberto J Delgado III, Hugo A. Delgado and Alejandro H. Delgado; his grandchildren Roberto Jesus Delgado IV, Leonor Rosela Delgado, Lucas Anawin Delgado, Natalia Catalina Delgado, Isabella Olympia Delgado, Amelia Margarita Delgado, Camilla Alanida Delgado and Alejandro Ikenna Delgado.
Roberto was preceded in death by his wife Flor Trevino †; his mother Esther Guerra † and his father Roberto Delgado †.
A visitation for Roberto will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A mass will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W St Francis St, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Roberto Delgado IV, Protacio Guerra III, Roberto J. Delgado III, Protacio Guerra IV, Hugo A. Delgado, Hector Guerra, Alejandro H. Delgado and Victor Cavazos.
