On Sunday, November 9th Roy Eugene Romero joined the love of his life, Barbara in heaven. He passed peacefully in his sleep with family at his bedside. Roy was a Husband, Father, and True Patriot. He has served his country, and his community, in many ways over the years. Roy held a degree in chemical engineering from UCLA and made contributions to the advances in aerospace, and to early developments in modern computing. He proudly served as a Green Beret in the Vietnam War, where he survived multiple combat tours. After his time in The Army, he continued his service to his country by working in a newly formed federal organization, The Drug Enforcement Administration. He foresaw the importance of the digital transformation that would unfold and was an early proponent of internet-based technology. Of all of his contributions and service to his Nation, he was proudest of his family whom he loved to no end. He is survived by his son, daughter, daughter-in-law and his grandsons. Roy was a man of faith, a powerful faith that shaped the man he wanted to become; that shaped the man who is loved fiercely by those of us left behind. The dedication he showed to those he loved & the community around him is a memory that will live on in warmth & joy. He always left every encounter having given a smile and a laugh to everyone he passed. The memory of him will always serve to those who knew him that love, faith, God & an unyielding dedication to one’s purpose will always lead you exactly where you are supposed to be. In light & in love. We find comfort in knowing that he now walks the shores of Heaven, hand in hand, with his wife & daughter Natascha. Rest well & at peace; we look to the sky, a little brighter, having added to the stars.
