Ruth Hernandez

Ruth (Esquivel) Hernández, de 61 años, falleció el 13 de agosto de 2026, acompañada por su esposo y su familia. Nació el 5 de septiembre de 1964 en Torreón, Coahuila (México), hija de Juan Esquivel Calvillo y María del Carmen Esquivel.

Ruth y José Alonso Hernández contrajeron matrimonio en Torreón, Coahuila, el 16 de febrero de 1991. Se mudaron a Oxnard, California, donde residieron durante tres años. Posteriormente, Ruth y Alonso se establecieron en Brownsville, Texas, lugar donde Ruth desarrolló toda su carrera como maestra (29 años). Sentía una gran pasión por la enseñanza y era muy querida tanto por sus alumnos como por sus colegas. Su prioridad eran sus estudiantes y contribuir a su educación, esforzándose siempre por hacer que se sintieran seguros y escuchados.

Además de la docencia, la familia era la prioridad de Ruth, y sus hijos constituían su mayor alegría. Mantenía una relación muy estrecha con sus hermanos y sus padres. Fue una madre, hermana y amiga fuerte y resiliente; disfrutaba de la cocina y le encantaba crear platillos especiales , las artes, el baile (en su juventud le encantaba el flamenco) y pasar tiempo con su familia. Le fascinaba organizar fiestas y reuniones.

A Ruth le sobreviven su esposo durante 35 años, Alonso, y sus tres hijos: su hijo Juan Alonso Hernández y sus hijas Ruth Jacob (Claude) y Angela. También le sobreviven sus hermanas Ana Esquivel (Barbara Schultheis), Rosa Alicia Esquivel y Kathy Esquivel (Jorge Rodríguez ), así como su hermano Juan Carlos Esquivel (Jocelyn Velásquez).

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, su hermana Lourdes Esquivel y su hermano Miguel Ángel Esquivel.

La velación se llevará a cabo en Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX, el 17 de agosto de 2026, de 2:00 pm al siguiente dia.

El rosario se celebrará en Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn el 17 de agosto de 2026, a las 6:30 pm.

El servicio de capilla tendrá lugar en Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn el 18 de agosto de 2026, a las 9:00 am seguido por el entierro en Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Ruth (Esquivel) Hernandez, 61, died on August 13, 2026, with her husband and family at her side. She was born on September 5, 1964, to Juan Esquivel Calvillo and Maria del Carmen Esquivel in Torreon Coahuila Mexico.

Ruth and Jose Alonso Hernandez were married in Torreon Coahuila on February 16, 1991. They moved to Oxnard, California where they lived for three years. Ruth and Alonso spent the remainder of her life in Brownsville, TX where Ruth spent her entire career as a teacher (29 years). She was passionate about teaching and she was beloved by her students and fellow educators. Her priority was her students and contributing to their education-always striving to make them feel safe and heard.

Besides teaching, Ruth’s priority was her family and her greatest joy were her children. She was very close to her siblings and parents. She was a strong resilient mother, sister, and friend who enjoyed cooking, creating edible arrangements, the arts, dancing (she loved flamenco as a youth), and spending time with her family. She loved organizing parties and get togethers.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 35 years, Alonso, and three children: Son, Juan Alonso Hernandez, and daughters, Ruth Jacob (Claude), and Angela. She is also survived by her sisters, Ana Esquivel (Barbara Schultheis), Rosa Alicia Esquivel, and Kathy Esquivel (Jorge Rodríguez ); and brother Juan Carlos Esquivel (Jocelyn Velasquez).

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lourdes Esquivel , and brother Miguel Angel Esquivel.

The visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX, on August 17, 2026, from 2:00 pm until the next day of August 18, 2026, 9:00 am.

The rosary will be held at Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn on August 17, 2026, at 6:30 pm.

Chapel Service will be held at Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn on August 18, 2026, at 9:00 am followed by a burial at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
