Sandra Lee "Sandy" Kingsbury, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, dedicated worker, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2024 at the age of 76.
Sandy loved music, dancing, playing bingo and watching TV programs especially Westerns. Her love of music included all genres including Rock and Roll (she was a huge fan of Elvis Presley), Hip Hop, Soul, Disco,& Cumbia. She was born, raised and lived in Brownsville/Matamoros for her entire life and lived life to the fullest every day. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
She was a proud graduate of Villa Maria High School, Class of 1966. She participated in several extracurricular activities including being a member of the choir. She loved her classmates dearly and cherished their life-long friendships. She attended Texas Southmost College. During her early career, she worked at Sears Department Store and later worked at Kroger Family Center until its closing in 1986. She held many other jobs in Brownsville and later retired from the BISD Department of Transportation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin R. Kingsbury Jr. and Ignacia Badillo Kingsbury.
She is survived by Rafael Nambo de Lugo (husband) of Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, Linda A. Granja (daughter) & Eduardo Granja Sr. (son in law) of Euless, Texas, Robert B. Cox III (son) & Stacy Cox (daughter in law) of Marion, Texas, Natalie Tate (daughter) & Antwane D. Tate Sr. (son in law) of San Antonio, Texas; Her brothers: Martin R. Kingsbury of San Antonio, Texas, John H. Kingsbury of Jamison, PA, Michael A. Kingsbury of San Antonio, Texas; Her sisters: Jeana Kingsbury of Austin, Texas and Mary Ann Kingsbury Davidson of Liberty Hill, Texas. Her grandchildren: Jayme Janel Garcia, ‘Sandra’ Nichole Ramirez, Ethan Robert Cox, Priscilla Rose Ramirez, Ian Martin Cox, Alyssa Margaret Cox, Joey Ramirez IV and 5 great grandchildren: Jesiah, Jayla, Jamie, RoseLee and Jason.
A memorial service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of resurrection will occur at Immaculate Conception Cathedral on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with a procession to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens for burial at 3:00 pm.
