Mr. Zuniga was born on March 9, 1948. At the age of 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He attended Recruit Training (Boot Camp) from May 22 to July 26, 1968, and later completed Storekeeper “A” School from August 26 to November 1, 1968.
In November 1968, he was assigned to the U.S. Naval Support Activity in Da Nang, Vietnam. In July 1970, he was transferred to the USS Jason (AR-8), a Vulcan-class repair ship stationed in San Diego, California. Mr. Zuniga served honorably until his discharge in August 1972. During his service he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Medal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Conrado N. Zuniga †; his mother, Noemi Zuniga †; and his brothers, Conrado Zuniga Jr.† and Luis Zuniga †.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Norma Caroline Zuniga of Brownsville; his son Gabriel Zuniga ; his siblings Ruth Dekic (Stanko †), Esther Sanchez (Manuel), Gabriela Zuniga, Maria Zuniga, Oralia Z Fernandez, and Noemi Zuniga; his brother, Elijio Zuniga (Mary Lou), as well as his cherished cousins Janet Rivera, Judith Saldivar, Rafael Pardo, and Mirna Velazquez and other cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Mr. Zuniga will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faithful service to his country, and the kindness he shared with everyone who knew him.
The family will forever remember his strength, kindness, and dedication to both his country and his loved ones. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on March 15, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
A Chapel Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista on March 16, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
Interment with military honors will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, TX 78526, on March 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, where Mr. Zuniga will be laid to rest with the honor and gratitude of a grateful nation.
