Victoria D. Hernandez, 97, of Brownsville, TX, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 1st 2025 in Brownsville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mercedes, Tx on November 17th 1927.
Victoria or "Vicky" like her friends liked to call her enjoyed a long and beloved life. She loved to sew and she would hand sew blankets for her family until her fingers could no longer hold a needle.
Cooking was a gift she shared with everyone. You never left her home on an empty stomach. She not only fed her family but she was the cook at Good Neighbor Settlement House for many years, not to mention that she also worked at the concession stands in Gladys Porter Zoo in the 80s.
Gardening was a passion of hers, there wasn't a plant or flower that she didn't know the name of. The plants she grew in her garden were many, they are only eclipsed by the love she showered her family with.
In her final days, she was surrounded by that love. She was loved beyond measure and she is already missed dearly. She was everything we hope we could be.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents Dolores and Guadalupe Dominguez, her sisters Manuela and Leonor, her husband Raul Hernandez, her youngest son Eduardo "Billy" Hernandez, her oldest daughter Maria Graciela Bautista

A visitation for Victoria will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St, Brownsville, TX 78521. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
