She was born January 29, 1925 in Rio Grande Valley, TX. Mom made Brownsville her home since 1950 and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Mom’s strength and words of wisdom would make us feel that we could overcome any obstacle that came our way. She would solve any situation, from a scraped knee to a broken heart, with a prayer and with words of encouragement. Mom had a heart of gold and was naturally empathetic that even people who hardly knew her would pour out their troubles to her. She inhaled a worry and exhaled a prayer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eulalio L. and Cresencia Elizondo; husband Daniel Marchan and brothers Eulalio and Gaston Elizondo.
She is survived by her two daughters Deborah (Fred) Madzinski of Buda, Texas and Patricia (Jaime) Cavazos of Brownsville, Texas; five sons, Pete (Sylvia) Centeno of Perry, Georgia, Dan T. Marchan of Brownsville, Texas, Marshall D. Marchan of Brownsville, Texas, Ted (Susie) Marchan of Brownsville, Texas and Jim (Rosalinda) Marchan of Boerne, Texas; sisters Minnie (✝George) Quiel of Ingleside, Texas and Azucena (Ed) Garcia of McAllen, Texas; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wished to give thanks to Dr. Pelly, the nurses and staff at Valley Regional Hospital. In addition, special thanks to Cima, Valley Wide Home Health, Las Jacarandas Adult Center and Spanish Meadows. In addition, Mom was blessed to have Lupita, Benita and Mari as her caretakers.
