Kenneth Donald "Don" Borklund, a resident of Brunswick, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the age of 81 in Johnson City, TN. He was born May 5, 1937 in Scanlon, FL, and was a graduate of Taylor County High School in Perry, FL. After serving in the US Army, Don moved to Brunswick where his maternal grandmother, Laulie Harper, lived. Not only was he an avid golfer, achieving multiple hole-in-ones, he also bowled the first 300 game at the Brunswick Bowlarena. Don served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Brunswick, and as secretary for the Adult 5 Sunday School Class for many years. He retired from Hercules after 36 years of service.
Don is survived by his daughter, Donna English (Bill) of Johnson City, TN; granddaughter Amanda English, grandson Matthew English and great granddaughter Myra Shivers, all of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law Colleen Borklund of Lake City, FL and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members, all whom he cherished.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margie Brigman Borklund; his mother, Ethelyne Harper Borklund; father, Lawrence Edward Borklund; and three brothers, Rudy Borklund, Phillip Borklund and Larry Borklund.
Visitation for “Don " will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave. in Brunswick. A memorial service will occur Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, where Rev. Jim Crandall is to officiate.
