

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:30 pm with a rosary service at 6:30 pm Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Alvin was born April 2, 1941 in Bryan the son of Uldric “Jack” and Alline (Konecney) Zemanek. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade, then graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1960. Alvin was lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Alvin met Carolyn Weichert at New Tabor Hall where they enjoyed dancing together. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church on September 10, 1960 and were one of the first two couples married in the church that stands today.
Alvin worked at the turf farm at Texas A&M University then Sanitary Farm Dairy and Baskin Robbins Ice Cream as a truck driver. He retired from Kelly Burt Dozer after 22 years of service where he loved working with the builders and subcontractors.
He loved time with his family. Enjoyed college baseball, softball and football. Especially the Texas Longhorns. Always had his red man chewing tobacco and scratching lotto tickets.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Uldric “Jack” and Alline Zemanek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Frances Weichert; and two brothers-in-law, Stanley Simecek Jr. and Larry Weichert.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Zemanek; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Kelly Burt, Susan and Keith Toomer; son and daughter-in-law, Alvin Jr. and Misty Zemanek; grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Burt, Lindsay (Burt) and Joe Bob Ratliff, Tyler Toomer, Dillon Toomer, McKenzie (Zemanek) and Matthew Fikes, Bentley Zemanek and Tinsley Zemanek; great-grandchildren, Blakely Burt, Cannon Burt, Kroy Ratliff, Quinn Ratliff, Maxx Toomer, Lona Toomer, Matt Fikes Jr. and Landry Fikes; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Mary Frances Zemanek; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Georgia Simecek, Evelyn and John Hirt, Helen and Paul Ihrke, Cheryl Weichert, Roger Weichert, and Gary and Sharon Weichert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Right at Home, Hospice Brazos Valley, Vicky Del Gado, Dr. David Damian, Msgr. John McCaffrey and Memorial Funeral Chapel for the love, care and support they gave to us and Alvin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School Athletic Fund, Aggieland Humane Society, Hospice Brazos Valley or a charity of your choice.
