Anita Pauline Stroech,103, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2025, at the Bryan Manor. She was born March 23, 1921, in Phillipsburg, Texas, to Gustav Giese and Annie (Vollert) Giese. She attended the Wonder Hill Schools.
Anita married William L. Stroech October 6, 1946, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, Texas. She and “Willie” lived in the Brenham area on a farm and later a ranch. In early 1957 they moved to Bryan, Texas.
Anita’s love for family and children brought her to her first job as a nanny and later as a seamstress in Brenham. After raising her children, she worked at Texas A&M Auxiliary Services as a seamstress and was promoted to a supervisory position.
She was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, College Station, where she especially enjoyed teaching young children in Sunday School. Prayer and daily devotions were a very important part of her life.
Anita was an excellent seamstress sewing beautiful clothing for herself including her wedding dress and many outfits for her daughters. She was a very good cook – fried chicken being one of her specialties. She especially loved Christmas when all her children gathered. One of her traditions was making her annual fruitcake. She enjoyed watching TV sports, especially the Aggies, Houston Astros, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a pet lover and enjoyed gardening and canning the bounty of the garden.
She was known as a very patient lady, very caring and kind to everyone.
But most dear to her and husband, Willie, was family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She kept up with what everyone was doing and always remembered family birthdays.
She is survived by her sister, Lillian Mantey, and sister-in-law, Shirley Giese. Survivors also include her children: Gloria Sharp (Wayne), Ken Stroech (Sandy), Glen Stroech (Dorothy), Sylvia Hanus (David); Grandchildren: Brandon Sharp, Darren Sharp (Sonja), Chris Stroech (Sarah), Jared Stroech (Angela), Jessica Brooks, Megan Dominguez (David), Ryan Hanus (Molly), and Will Hanus; Great grandchildren: Alma Sharp, Naomi Sharp, Carter Brooks, Grace Brooks, Tanner Stroech, and Asher Stroech.
