Anton Charles Luza beloved husband, uncle, and godfather, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Bryan, Texas and was the son of Vincent A. and Cecilia Matous Luza. He lost his mother when he was 2 years old and his father and siblings were always there for him.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm on October 7, with the rosary recited at 6:30 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Entombment will follow at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum.
Anton lived all his life in Brazos County. He attended St. Joseph School through the 8th grade. During his high school years, he was very active in CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and held several positions in local and district chapters. He graduated from SFA High School in Bryan. He married the love of his life, Willie Ann Salideno on July 7, 1963 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Anton was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church all of his life. His great-grandparents were original parishioners of this church when it began in 1873.
Anton was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and joined their bowling team and bowled with them for over 50 years. He and Father Tim Valenta bowled on the same team for many years. At first, it was just locally, and then they were in tournaments and traveled all over the United States. Overall, Anton bowled for 67 years and in 2021 was elected to the Brazos Valley Hall of Fame.
Anton and Willie Ann were asked to lead the Grand March at many weddings over the years. They loved to dance and did so often. Anton and fellow parishioner, Helen Metzer, planned trips for members of St. Joseph Church. Later, they planned casino trips to different places in Louisiana where they would leave early one morning on a bus and return the next day. Traveling was very important to Anton and Willie Ann and they did so as often as possible. They traveled all over Texas as well as the United States and enjoyed several cruises as well. Anton worked for Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) and retired after 30 years.
Anton is preceded in death by his parents, V.A. and Cecilia Luza; brother, Charles (Lydia), Vince (Jeanetta) and Jerome; sisters, Mary Zemanek (Louis), Cecilia Luza (Willie), Tracy Horn (Alfred), and Helen Milberger (James).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Willie Ann; numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Horn, Cody Ponzio, Bradley Ponzio, Darren Zemanek, Michael Robinson Jr. and Louis Zemanek Jr.
