A limb has fallen from the family tree and I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs, the good life I lived while I was still strong." Billie Dell Ferguson, 84, was surrounded by her loving family on November 6, 2021 when the good Lord gently put her hands in His and began the journey home.
Billie Dell Ferguson was born on September 7, 1937 to Elsie Anna Turek and John Clifton Mathis. She was a lifetime resident of Brazos County and married the love of her life, Richard Elton Ferguson, on August 30, 1957. After the birth of her two sons, she went to work as a Legal Secretary for the Bryan City Attorney's Office for 33+ years and then part-time with the Bryan Police Department after retirement. Mrs. Billie loved to waltz and did it with such grace. She also loved cats and befriended any that ventured into her yard.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Richard Elton Ferguson; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sue Ferguson of Bryan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Clifton Mathis; and her son, Mark Edwin Ferguson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at College Station Cemetery. For those unable to attend but still wishing to pay respect, a prayer book will be available at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Billie's name to a charity of your choice.
