Compassionate, kind, and loving Blanche went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2018. She was 85 years old.

Blanche was born November 13, 1932 to John and Hallie Vowell in Anniston, Alabama. She graduated from Ensley High School in Birmingham, Alabama and later married the love of her life, Jim Campbell, in 1952. They eventually moved their family to Bryan, Texas in 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Campbell, and two brothers John Vowell Jr., and Tommy Vowell. She is survived by a daughter, Penni Campbell Broach and husband Don Broach, a son Jimmy Campbell Jr., son John Campbell and wife Barbie Campbell, and a daughter Pam Campbell Virgils and husband Russell Virgils. She is also survived by her grandchildren Allison Broach Polka, Marjorie Campbell, Shane Campbell, Chris Virgils, and her great grandchildren Brooks Polka and Bennett Polka. Also surviving her are three sisters, Patsy James and husband Jerry James, Ollie Dean, and Connie McCulloch and husband John McCulloch and numerous nieces and nephews.

As a young wife and mother living in Alabama, Blanche enjoyed giving back to her community. She was a member and past president of Spinners Club, a community service organization where she served for many years. She raised her children in a loving home and brought them up with Christian values. A verse she readily lived by came from Joshua 24:15 “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”

Her favorite things in life were serving her Lord and Savior, her group Bible studies, and her daily readings of the Bible. She never tired of learning more about the Bible and had numerous study books. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Bryan for 48 years where she taught 4th graders in Sunday School and also worked in Bible School. She enjoyed spending time creating ways to present the lessons to the children. Blanche also loved growing flowers and she loved animals. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Later in life she and Jim were the owners of Wherman’s Restaurant in Bryan where they enjoyed many friends who patronized the restaurant.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1st and the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 2nd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Pastor Jim Jackson of First Baptist Church Bryan officiating.

I moved across the street from Blanche in 1980. She was always upbeat and a happy person to be around. For the last several years, carolers from her church came before Christmas to her house since she could not get out. She will be missed.

I met Mrs. Campbell almost 12 years ago when I married Kevin. She greeted me with a big old hug and a beautiful smile. We live across the street from her. She loved to talk and laugh about life. She truly seemed to live life the way she wanted to. She will be missed but we know she is watching over all who love her from the Father's arms. Blessings and prayers for all the family as you feel the loss of a wonderful lady.
