

Carl Hubbell McNulty Sr., (Mac), age 90, of Bryan, Texas passed on surrounded by his family at home on the morning of September 13, 2025. Carl was born to James Anderson and Verna Strahan McNulty in Tomball, Texas on January 5, 1935, and was the youngest of three boys. Carl went to school in Tomball, Texas, where he competed in track and won a State title in discus and broke the record in 1953.
Carl served 3 years in the U.S. Army in field artillery, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, and Iceland. Upon honorable discharge in November of 1957, Carl returned home where he married Sallie Purcell on May 3, 1958. They later had three beautiful children. Carl began his post service career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Carl’s career spanned almost 40 years, where he met Dickie Hastings and Otto Carl, who continued to meet for breakfast and catch up after retirement. Carl enjoyed camping, traveling, creating new inventions, and MacGyvering everything he could. He spent a week RV camping with his grandchildren for many summers, and could be seen crawling around and caring for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In later years, Carl made crosses for his Sunday School class in Tomball, and Rosaries for the Rosary Guild at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bryan. In 2024, Carl moved to Watercrest where he served as an ambassador, welcomed new residents to the complex, and made many new friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Purcell McNulty, his parents, James and Verna McNulty; and his brothers, James W. McNulty, and Gerald B. McNulty.
Carl is survived by his children, Carl McNulty (Nita) of Normangee, Pam Simmons (Doug) of Bryan, and Mike McNulty (Sara) of Magnolia; and his grandchildren, Kristin Sajewski (JJ) of Normangee, Courtney Bailey of Magnolia, Maranda Martin (Vann) of Magnolia, Taylor Brocksmith (Klint) of Bryan, Kyle Simmons of Bryan, Makenna McNulty (Josh) of Magnolia. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Colton Sajewski, Cade Sajewski, Coastan Logan, Emery Bailey, Mayson Logan, Caybree Martin, Cohin Martin, Karter Logan, and Sutton Brocksmith; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank Bluebonnet Health Services for their care. Also, they would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words during this time.
Visitation will be at 9:00 am with a rosary at 9:30 am Thursday, September 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:00 am. Burial will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 22 at Houston National Cemetery.
