Born on November 25, 1941, he graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas.
Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, brother, sisters, and son Charlie Ayala Jr.
Survived by his wife of 31 years, Irma, and son Orlando Ayala. Brothers-in-law Robert, Victor, and Ruben Escobar and sister-in-law Irene Branderhorst. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
