Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan on Thursday, June 14th from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, June 15th at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Carolina was born June 5, 1930 in Rosebud, Texas the daughter of Jesusita and Cristino Guerra. At a young age, she and her family moved to Bryan where she resided until her death. Carolina worked at American Linen and Haylay Hatcheries for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, and doing things such as gardening and mowing the lawn. Carolina also enjoyed cooking, as well as all kinds of sweets. Carolina was happiest when she was at home.
Carolina is preceded in death by her parents, Cristino and Jesusita Guerra; her two sons, Alfredo and Robert Portales; her brothers, Christino Guerra, Charlie Guerra, and Joe Guerra Sr.; and sisters, Sophia Ramirez, Amelia Sauceda, and Josephine Castro.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Moses Hernandez; Evangelina Velasquez, Dora and Ralph Davila; sons and daughter-in-law, Sam and Lily Portales of League City, Texas, Ray Portales Jr; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to personally thank the staff of St. Joseph Manor for the love and care they gave to Carolina during the four years she was living there.
