CT was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce Lard; his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Rachel Lard; his sister, Pamula D. Lard; and his cherished grandchildren, Avery and Shane. His grandchildren, who knew him as “Pepish,” brought him immense joy. He is also survived by numerous other family members and loved ones.
CT was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Joyce Machan Lard.
CT bravely battled ALS for many years, facing each day with strength, resilience, and quiet determination. His courage throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love of family, his steady presence, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a smile to lift the spirits of those around him. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.
CT proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he moved to Caldwell, Texas, where he lived for 21 years before settling in Bryan and then moving to Kurten in 2014. He worked in the oilfield and spent over 28 years with Koch Pipeline.
CT enjoyed going on cruises, attending his granddaughters’ softball games, and spending time outdoors. He loved gathering around the firepit, where he was always happy to share his famous cowboy beans with anyone who joined him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, with visitation at 9:00am and services at 10:00 am at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, Texas. Charlie Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Kurten Cemetery.
