Dean Gerard Ramsdell came flying into the world on two wheels May 20, 1963, born to Angela “Babcia” Ordyna Ramsdell and Charles “Woodsy” Ramsdell, in North Adams, Massachusetts. He left us all too soon on November 13, 2025. While sudden and unexpected, we find peace in knowing he didn’t suffer and is now resting with the Lord.
As a teen, Dean had a love for his Yamaha RD400 and rode it everywhere. You could catch him riding up Graylock Mountain in a wheelie. He attended and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire, Massachusetts in 1981, playing any and every sport he could; baseball, football, basketball, you name it. During high school he managed a local gas station, Power Test, and joined the National Guard. He was medically discharged shortly after due to a back injury.
In 1983, he relocated to Texas where he started his lifelong career in the oilfield, settling in Bryan. In 1987, he married his everlasting love, Belinda McNeice Ramsdell. They built a wonderful life together, and his family was right at the center of it. He was a man of faith and was sure to let you know that any blessings granted were a gift from God. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan, TX, where he spent several years involved in their youth program, Life Teen. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dean loved hard and was a friend to all. His smile was infectious, and his laugh could fill a room. If you ever hugged him, you’d never forget it. He liked to drive fast and blare his music loud. Many memories were made at the Texas Motor Speedway with his brother, nephews, nieces and friends. Watching the NASCAR race was a Sunday staple; if there wasn’t a race on, the TV was tuned to golf. Road trips to visit family were his favorite. He also loved a nice weekend riding his Harley with Belinda and their motorcycle buddies. He was a fountain of knowledge, there wasn’t a crossword puzzle he couldn’t solve. Had he been a contestant on Jeopardy, he would’ve put Ken Jennings to shame. Dean was a hard worker, finally retiring, in April 2025. He spent this year doing what he loved: spending time with his wife, girls, and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, mother, father, and brother Charlie Ramsdell. He is survived by his beautiful wife Belinda, his precious daughters Kayla and Candace, sons-in-law Paul and Randel, his cherished grandchildren Riley, Reagan, Arley, Raley, Hayes, Cole and baby Campbell, brothers Scott Ramsdell, Dan Hartwig, and sister Shirley Fachini, along with many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in laws who he loved dearly.
Services: There will be no formal service, as Dean would never have wanted anyone to gather and cry over him. He will be cremated and his family plans to hold a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Please feel free to reach out, stop by, or send any stories or memories you can think of to the family to help them through this difficult time.
In honor of his memory, please take some time to reach out to or spend time with your family and loved ones. Take the trip, plan the gathering, make the time, as life is too short.
