With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debbie Dumond, a beloved sister, daughter, and friend, who brought light and laughter to everyone around her. Debbie passed on October 11, 2025 at the age of 67, after a life filled with love, resilience, and the simple joys that made her world and ours so special.
Debbie was born in Richardson, Dallas County, Texas on December 23, 1957, and from the beginning, she taught those around her what it meant to live with grace and authenticity. Though mentally challenged from birth, Debbie’s spirit was never defined by limitations. Her life was a testament to the power of care, community, and unconditional love.
For 38 years, Debbie was a cherished resident of the Richmond state supported living Center, where she was surrounded by devoted caretakers and dear friends who became her extended family. The living center was a true home where Debbie thrived, laughed, and found comfort in her routines. She had her favorite things: a warm cup of coffee, an egg-on-toast and, when the stars aligned, a meal from Popeyes chicken and a coke. These small pleasures brought her immense joy and became part of the rhythm of her days.
One of the most poignant moments in Debbie’s journey was the weekend our family spent at the living center before her full-time placement. It was a difficult transition, especially for our mother, whose love and concern ran deep. Yet, that weekend marked the beginning of a truly blessed chapter in Debbie’s life - one of stability, compassion, and enduring care.
Our family remained connected to Debbie throughout her time at the living center. We visited often, picking her up for special outings and meals, sharing laughter and simple stories over dinner tables and car rides. Holidays, birthdays, and other milestones were often not alone as Debbie would come home for extended visits, filling our spaces with her presence and reminding us of the joy found in togetherness. These moments were treasured by all of us and our family’s bond with her.
Debbie is survived by her sister Elizabeth Moody and brother’s Robert and David Dumond and many other extended family members who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her life reminds us that love is not measured by accomplishments, but by the joy we give and receive. Debbie gave where she could generously. A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on November 1, 2025 in McDade, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Volunteer Service Council Richmond - State Supported Living Center, in honor of the community that supported her so faithfully. Debbie’s laughter, her routines, her quiet strength will never be forgotten. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
