
Donald J. Mahan, 71, of Somerville, passed away early Thursday morning, May 26 2011 at the College Station Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with Lon Elkins of the Caldwell Church of Christ officiating.
Donald was born in Burleson County August 16, 1939 to Augusta Ellen (Plantt) and John T. Mahan. He graduated from Tivoli High School, and has lived most his life in Bryan and Burleson County. He has lived in Somerville since 1970. He owned and operated a Backhoe and Oil Filed Service Company. Donald loved raising and training horses, hunting, fishing, and most of all, his family and
grandchildren. He was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dottie Ferreri and Joyce Lard.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mahan of Somerville; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Cindy Mahan of Snook; daughter and son-in-law, Guinett and Jim Lewis of Keller, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Conrad and Charlotte Mahan of Bryan; sister and brother-in-law,
Hancel and Steve Cockran of College Station; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
