Doris was born August 13, 1924 in Bryan, Texas, the daughter of Mary Katherine (Stasny) and Henry Theodore Schovajsa. Doris married William Peter “Pete” Odom, Jr. on January 5, 1948. Doris and Pete owned and operated Bryan Dental Laboratory. Doris and her son, Paul, continued to operate the lab after Pete’s death due to Parkinson’s Disease related complications in 1992. Doris and Pete enjoyed spending family time at their camp on Camp Creek and dancing together with friends when they had the opportunity. Until Doris moved to Bluebonnet Place in August 2007, she could most often be found on a Saturday night at the Sons of Herman Hall with her many friends who shared her love of “going out dancing.”
Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Henry Schovajsa; her husband, William Peter Odom, Jr., a son, James Paul Odom; and her older sister, Evelyn Hollander, who lived in Pennsylvania at the time of her death.
She is survived by a son, William Peter Odom, III and Doris Machinski. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bluebonnet Place for the excellent care they provided to Mrs. Odom over the last nine years, and a special thank you to the director, Liz Brannen.
