Ed was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 6, 1937. He was raised in a very loving family, son of Earl Binion Seale and Anna Mildred Herman Seale, brother to Barbara Jean and Sylvia Lee. Ed accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. Ed was active in sports. He played football, lifted weights before it was popular, ran track, as well as other activities at South Oak Cliff High School. He was elected “Best All-Around” his senior year and graduated in January 1956. He served in the Army National Guard. Ed attended Arlington State and ran track and graduated from North Texas State University. He later earned a C.P.A. Ed worked for Ross Perot in the accounting department at Frito Lay and later became an accountant for Howmet/Alumax Aluminum Corporation.
Ed married Susan Davis in 1967. They were blessed with two daughters. After raising Laura and Lisa, Ed moved to work in Bryan, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Susanne Pharis, on March 11, 1995. Ed and Sue enjoyed a wonderful 23 years together. They had many adventures, including traveling and running the Victory Rose Bed and Breakfast. (Sue likes to do breakfast, while Ed entertained the guests with his stories.) One of Ed’s greatest joys was to actively serve and fellowship with friends at Central Baptist Church. Another joy was spending time with his grandchildren, mentoring them, attending their many activities, and just laughing together.
Ed was known for his great sense of humor. As a man of high character, he served his country, his family, his church, and his community, humbly and with no desire for recognition. His loved ones have no doubt that he was received in heaven joyfully by his waiting family members and with the acclamation, “Well done, good and faithful servant” by his Lord.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Susanne Seale, his daughters Laura Anne Seale Blackwood and Lisa Anne Seale Swafford, his step-sons, Anthony Fleitas (wife, Shay) and Nicolas Fleitas; grandchildren Taegan [née Ashley] Swafford Shaw, Kaylen Swafford, Tara Swafford, Scott Alex Swafford, Garrett Fleitas, Jordan Fleitas; great-grandchildren Heather Shaw, Mallorie Shaw, and Hailey Shaw; niece LeAnn Raines Strait (husband, Keith), great-nephew Ethan Strait; nephew Rick Guinn, great-niece Amber Janice Leese, and great-great-nephew Aaron Baker.
Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Children’s New Building Ministry.
