Edward Jackson Gregg

He grew up in Bryan and graduated from Stephen F Austin High School in 1957. He went on to attend Texas A&M where he received a BS in Entomology. While a student, he was a member of Corps of Cadets, Squadron 21 Air Force wing. In 1960, he married Elaine Cecile Cargill. They lived in Bryan their entire lives.

Ed worked for Texas A&M as a student and then as a graduate in several departments. He retired from the Animal Science Department in 1999 after 33 years of service to Texas A&M.

He was involved in many activities with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, including Adoration Chapel, Homebound Ministry, Marriage Encounter, Ushers Club, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and barbecuing at the annual Church Festival. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight of Council 1834 from 1976-1978. Ed enjoyed Texas A&M sports and attending Aggie football games, camping with family, working in his garden, fishing and hunting with friends, and cruising with his wife.

He loved his country and proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1961 until retirement as Master Sergeant in 1999.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his son Todd Edward Gregg and his daughter Claire Gregg Davila.

He is survived by wife Elaine, son Paul Thurston Gregg, daughter Sarah and husband Tony Davalos, daughter Celeste and husband Patrick Lacour, grandchildren Luke Davalos, Liza Davalos, Elisa Davila, and Ethan and Paige Lacour and great granddaughter Hazel. He is also survived by siblings Dianne Lero, Jim Gregg, Sandra Kohler, and Paula Foerster.

Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 South College Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77801, on June 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E 26th St, Bryan, Texas 77803, on June 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Monsignor Gleissner Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2811 Old Kurten Road, Bryan, Texas 77803, US, on June 9, 2026.
