Eloise “Momo” Carrillo, 74, a lifelong resident of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 5, 2024. Eloise was born at home on August 4, 1949 to Louis and Sophia Luna.
Eloise was a beautician and ran a successful beauty shop with her sister for many years. Eloise decided to take a leap of faith and decided to open her own home daycare in 1988 that she successfully ran for 30 years. During her 30 years she cared for hundreds of children in Brazos County, many of whom she still kept in contact with today. She believed all of these children were her own honorary children and grand-children. Parents often had their kids waiting for them at the end of the day holding a fresh homemade tortilla, and some parents were even lucky enough to have a tortilla waiting for them as well.
Eloise was known as a back-up mom to all of our friends. It was not unusual to have extra kids show up for dinner or Sunday breakfast. If someone just stopped by to visit they were quickly asked if they were hungry or thirsty. Many knew that the second drawer on the right had the days fresh made tortillas, and if that drawer was empty there were more in the fridge.
Eloise met and fell in love with Roberto Carrillo in 1973, and were married on December 8, 1974 in her parent’s little white house on Cole Street. During their almost 50 years of marriage Eloise and Roberto were blessed with 4 children. Their only daughter Andrea, and sons Morris, Michael, and Mark.
Eloise loved her title of mom, but was more excited about her title of “Momo” that she was blessed with on February 8, 2003 with the birth of her first grandchild. From that point on she proudly told everyone to call her Momo. Momo was lucky to travel around the United States. She was blessed with trips to Ohio, Las Vegas, a road trip throughout Colorado, and New York City. Her favorite trips were made down to South Padre Island especially when her grand-children were there.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Sophia Luna, and sisters Gloria Luna, Dora Luna, and Margaret Serrato.
Eloise leaves behind her loving husband, Roberto. Also left behind are her children Andrea Rives and husband Dan, Morris Carrillo and wife Joy, Mark Carrillo and wife Crystal, and Michael Carrillo. More importantly, she is survived by her grand-children Ethan and Carys Rives, Diego, Gabriel and Carlos Carrillo, Talia Saulsbury, Christian Dale, and great grand-child Makai Rives. Her brothers Eddie Luna and wife Charlene “Hopper”, and Ernest Luna and wife Alice, and her sister Teri Garret. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers with Brazos Valley Hospice who provided comfort to Eloise during her final days.
