Gilbert Adams was born in Nixon, Texas, on November 17, 1941. He passed away peacefully at his home Sunday evening, February 11, 2024. His family traveled from Nixon, to Gonzales, to Steele Store before finding a permanent home in Bryan.
Gilbert and Mercedes got married at a young age. He worked hard to provide for his family. He has always been a loving husband and father. Gilbert enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His weekends were filled with baseball softball, tennis, golf, poker, dancing or barbecues. He had a very good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing the ones that he loved. Even through the sickness and loss of his only son, he remained devoted to his wife and daughters. He retired from construction and kept busy with his yard and going on walks with his wife. As time went on, he cared for his ailing wife and was completely heartbroken when she passed. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones
Gilbert is predeceased by his wife Mercedes, son, Bobby Adams; parents, Pedro and Julia Adams; parents-in-law Ascension and Rosa Almanza; son-in-law Jerry Lynn Lloyd, sisters Marcela Mendoza, Olivia Gomez; sister in law, Josephina Adams and brothers-in-law, Jose Antonio Almanza, Paul Gomez and Frank Aguirre.
Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Irene Martinez and son-in-law Manuel, Lisa Lloyd, and Crystal Adams and son-in-law, Ozgur Bozkurt; grandchildren, Michael Martinez, Valerie Marsteller, Daniella Martinez, Gabrielle Lloyd, Isabella Lloyd, Christian Lloyd, and Colette Bozkurt; four great grandchildren, his brother Lee Adams
Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm, Friday, February 16, 2023 with the Rosary recited at 6 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan. Gilbert will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
