Iva was the oldest of three daughters. Her parents, Leon and Lucille Jones, raised her and her sisters, Geraldine and Shirley, in Bryan. Even as a young woman, Iva was the family's historian and was instrumental in bridging the span of two generations of her mother's family.
She met her future husband, James (Jim) King at a pool party at Bryan Air Force Base in July of 1956. They were married August 17, 1956.
Iva and Jim traveled the globe together during their 60 years of marriage. They raised three children, Beverly, Robert and Russell. Their family lived in Libya, Germany, North Carolina, Michigan, Texas and Alaska.
Iva loved to cook and bake for her family. She was an avid gardener and passed that passion on to her daughter. She was a talented seamstress; sewing beautiful clothing and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She created amazing scrapbooks for her family as well.
Iva was such an animal lover. She loved her corgis Buster, Bonnie and Beauregard. They brought her abundant joy.
Iva was so proud of her grandchildren, Russ, Samantha, Casey and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Sammy and Sawyer. They truly were the light in her life.
Iva is preceded in death by her mother and father, Leon and Lucille, her son Robert and her granddaughter, Samantha Lee.
Iva is survived by her husband Jim; her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Brad Metcalf and their children, Casey and Kelsey Metcalf; her son and daughter-in law, Russell and Donna King; their son and daughter-in-law Russell and Tracy King and the great-grandchildren , Samantha and Sawyer; sister Geraldine Pack, her husband Milton and their children, Tommy, Carol, David and Kathy; sister Shirley Gerber and her sons Conan Chadbourne and Matthew Gerber; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
