Janie was born March 25, 1943 in Normangee to Mac Leon Jr. and Rachael (Griffin) Bennett. She retired from Bryan ISD as a Teacher’s Aid after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Central Church.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Don Kopetsky; sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Laurie Kopetsky, Alan and Holly Kopetsky, Brad and Dana Kopetsky; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mac Leon “Butchie” III and Sandra Bennett, Robert and Bobbye Sue Bennett, William Calvin “Bunkin” and Candy Bennett; sisters and brother-in-law, Nanette (Bennett) and James Collum, Rachael (Bennett) Robinson; grandchildren, Hayden Kopetsky and wife Rachel, Paige Strzelec and husband Wally, Kash Kopetsky, Blake Kopetsky and wife Katelyn, Colby Kopetsky and wife Cara, Marlee Kopetsky and fiancé Ian Enzor; great-grandchildren, Molly, Savannah and Steelie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to her caregivers: Rochelle Rhodes, Chasity Premeaux, Carmen Martinez, and Sandy Prochazka for taking such loving care of Janie.
A visitation will be held at Central Church on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am. Reverend Tim Skaggs of Central Church will be officiating. All are invited to lunch immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Church Children’s Building fund.
