Jerry Dean Carter was born in Decatur, Alabama, and spent much of his youth in Birmingham. He graduated from Banks High School in 1962 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War as a microwave radio repairman in Thailand from September 1964 to September 1967.
After his military service, Jerry pursued higher education at Cameron State University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science. While working as the maintenance person at the Baptist Student Union on campus, he met the love of his life, Condy Ruth Richards. After a brief courtship, they were married on January 25, 1969, in Weslaco, Texas, beginning a journey of love and partnership that spanned 56 years.
Jerry was an entrepreneur at heart, embarking on various business ventures, including a furniture business and a lumber and construction company. In 1982, he founded Videomega Productions, which later evolved into Cabletime Television Advertising, a family-run business he built alongside his nephew and sister-in-law. This endeavor brought Jerry and his family to Bryan- College Station in 1987, where they laid down lasting roots.
A brilliant computer programmer and an inventive tinkerer, Jerry had an insatiable curiosity and a knack for fixing almost anything. He saw the good in everyone and approached life with kindness, humor, and an inquisitive spirit. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Christine Carter and A.B.Carter, as well as his brother, A.B. (Ben) Carter.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Condy Ruth Carter, and their children: Michael (Amy), Jennifer (Lance), and Christopher (Shannon). He also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Griffin, Mackenzie, Kendall, Faith, Amelia, Cassidy, Kathryn, Maggie, Luke, and Alice.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Boone Barrow, Dr. Stephen Tanner, and the Temple Dialysis Center for their compassionate care throughout Jerry's health journey.
