Joan Sommer Lutz

Joan Sommer Fagan Lutz of Bryan passed from this life on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 11 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, at First Presbyterian Church of Calvert with Rev. Ted V. Foote, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvert City Cemetery.

Joan was born August 30, 1930 to John J. Fagan, Jr. and Kathryn Sommer Fagan in Dallas, Texas.She graduated from Calvert High School and attended Southern Methodist University where she met Nickolas Robert Lutz, Sr. After they married, Joan and Nick made their home in Calvert, Texas and called Robertson County home for the next 62 years. A devoted housewife, Joanspent her life making her family and friends comfortable and happy. Her family was everything to her. There aremillions of great memories forever embedded in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends. Her smiling faceand huge heart will be missed by many.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Nick and her parents. She is survived by her sons Nickolas Robert Lutz Jr. and wife Mona of Rockport, and John Carl Lutz Sr. and wife Mary of Calvert; daughter Mary Kathryn Lutz Sustaire and husband Don of College Station; grandchildren Nickolas Robert Lutz III and wife Gretchen, Trevor Sommer Lutz and wife Amber, Melissa Lutz Kirk and husband Shane, John Carl Lutz, Jr., Christopher Alan Lutz and Don Russel Sustaire; great-grandchildren Haley Sommer and Hayden Nickolas Lutz, Presley Sommer and Landon Cole Lutz, Kyla Jane and Kinley Elizabeth Kirk; cousin Sue Kathryn Fincher Davis and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
