Joann San Angelo, 84, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 18, 2015 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan. An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 22nd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, followed by visitation until 8:00 P.M. A second Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan with Reverend Joseph Varickamackal and Monsignor John Malinowski officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Joann was born December 17, 1930 in Smetana, Texas to Paul and Vita (Scarmardo) Stallone, Sr. She attended Stephen F. Austin High Scholl in Bryan, but had to leave school after the 10th grade to help her family on their farm. She met the love of her life Philip San Angelo and they were married on May 29, 1946. She worked for the International Furniture Factory in Bryan and retired after 31 years of service.
Joann was a lifelong resident of Brazos County and was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and she loved giving her time and talent to her church, by serving on the Funeral Dinner Committee and the Annual Spaghetti Dinner Committee. She was also an Honorary Member of St. Anthony’s Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Philip San Angelo on April 18, 1996; three brothers, Paul, Ross, and Sam Stallone; and one sister, Mary Stallone.
She is survived by her son Phil A. San Angelo of Bryan; her daughter, Rosemary Deasy of Stafford, Virginia; her sister, Grace Abbate of College Station; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial be made to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
