Joe Restivo, 94, of Bryan passed away Saturday, November 9, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan on Thursday, November 14, at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Patrick Ebner and Monsignor John Malinowski officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a Rosary being recited at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. He was born in Bryan to Nicolena Dragna and Andrew H. Restivo and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the European Theater of Operations in Normandy, France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received American Defense Service Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, 1 Service Stripe, 6 Overseas Bars, and Good Conduct Medal. Joe was very faithful to his Army Unit and made as many reunions as he could even though they were as far away as Michigan and Indiana. Joe owned and operated Restive Stop ‘N Shop Grocery at 801 N. Texas Avenue in Bryan for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he served as a Deacon and Sacristan. He was a member of the Usher’s Club. He was 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and life member of Monsignor Gleissner Knights of Columbus Council 1834. He was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the WFW Post 4692. He loved bowling, deer hunting, and deep sea fishing. Most of all he loved family gatherings. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Lucy Marino Restivo; daughter, Sandra Restivo; brothers, Sam Restivo, Frank Restivo, and Andrew Restivo; sisters, Corrine Smith and Lucille Ruffino; grandson, Michael McClendon. He is survived by daughters, Corrine Court of Bryan, TX, Jo Ann Limerick and husband David of Katy, TX, Barbara Restivo and husband Michael Harris of Sarasota, FL, Debbie and husband Mark McClendon of Wyle, TX, and Michelle and husband Dan Walker of Beaumont, TX; brothers and sister-in-laws, Anthony and wife Reba Restivo or Bryan, TX, Jack and wife Mary Jo Restivo of Bryan, TX, and Don and Lucy Restivo of Beaumont, TX; sisters, Mary Perrone of Bryan, TX, and Rena Cangelose of Bryan, TX; sister-in-law, Virgina Restivo of Hempstead, TX.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in memory of Joe Restivo.

It is so hard to imagine life without you Uncle Joe. You have been such a huge part of our lives that I guess I thought you'd always be there. At the store, in church, out in the country and at ALL family gatherings. Always there, always filling our souls with love and laughter.
