

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Joe was born March 19, 1938 in Cameron the son of Eleno Sr. and Bartola (Montalvo) Ramirez. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Joe worked many years with Bryan Coca-Cola, G.F. Sousares Distributors, and Miller/Kristen Distributing Company. He then went to work for College Station I.S.D. as a bus driver. He drove for many years and loving driving the kids to school. Long after his retirement, he would have adults recognize him and Say “Mr. Joe I remember you, you drove my school bus when I was little”.
Joe coached several years for Little League West baseball; he also played baseball for the LULAC Baseball team. He was an avid Aggie fan and loved to watch Aggie Sports. Joe usher several years at Kyle Field for Aggie Football games. He loved traveling, dancing barbecues with family and friends.
Joe served on the Board of Directors for LULAC Oak Hill; he was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the V.FW. Post 4692. He was a giving, humble, modest man and a friend to all.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Olga Portales; son, Richard G. Ramirez; sister, Lupe; and brothers, Leonardo, Jesse and Margarito.
He is survived by his wife, Celsa “Kenny” Ramirez; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph M. Jr. and Peggy Ramirez; daughter, Sandra Ramirez Denman; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Rebecca Ramirez; step-son, John Rosas; step-daughter, Marie Garcia; brothers and sisters, Julian Ramirez, Pete Ramirez, Elena Cornejo, Margaret Mayorga, Ysidoro Ramirez, Eleno Ramirez Jr., and Ruth Morales; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Russell Biles, Dr. Gabriel Berrios, Cassandra Dunn with Visiting Angels and Seth with Encompass Hospice for all their compassionate care they gave to Joe.
