Services for Kathryn Virginia Tabor (Mamaw), 81, formerly of Bryan, and recently of Manvel, Texas are set for 10 a.m., July 16, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Cemetery in Bryan. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Kathryn was born January 12, 1935 in Belton, Texas to parents Katie Burks and Marshall Tharp. After graduating High School in Bartlett, Texas she worked at the Five and Dime variety store for several years. She then married the love of her life, Glen Tabor in October of 1957 and to this union was blessed one child, Rick Tabor, daughter-in-law Angela Tabor, 7 grandchildren, Glen Tabor, Karen Sepolio, granddaughter-in-law Ashley Tabor, grandson-in-law Eric Sepolio, Matthew Tabor, Charlotte Tabor and Samantha Tabor, and 5 great grandchildren, Ethan Sepolio, Ben Tabor, Jack Tabor, Emily Sepolio and Katherine Tabor.
Kathryn was the best mother, grandmother and homemaker that there ever was. She loved children, especially babies, and her generosity to them was unwavering. Children always made her smile and laugh and she was always ready with a kiss or a hug. With her husband, Glen (Papaw), Mamaw and Papaw took their grandchildren to movies, museums, parks, playgrounds, fishing, and for pizza and spent time with them in the yard playing, and baking cookies. She loved helping her husband in their flower garden and cooking vegetables out of their vegetable garden. She found joy in rocking her grandbabies in her lap, reading Susan Grafton and Nora Roberts novels, As The World Turns, NCIS, General Hospital, going to ladies Bible class on Tuesdays, sending birthday cards to shut-ins, and attending Central Church of Christ in Bryan.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be given to the Central Church of Christ in Bryan or to World Vision, a Christian charity that helps children in need around the world.
