Kelly Gail Wilson Reynolds, 45, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the College Station Medical Center in College Station. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Reverend Patrick Williams officiating.
Kelly was born August 15, 1967 in Chatfield, Texas to James and Janet Burkhalter Wilson, the second of three children. During her young years, her father worked several jobs, but was a cowboy for many years. Her mother stayed home and took care of her and her brothers. As a young kid, Kelly loved to ride her pony “Lightening” around the small town of Chatfield, where Kelly grew up. She also loved to ride in the back of the truck with her brothers Wade and Logan as her Dad was feeding and checking on the cows. She attended Rice Elementary and Rice Middle School. Kelly’s fondest memories as a child would have included Christmas with her family and Christmas at Granny’s. She graduated from Blooming Grove High School in Blooming Grove, Texas in 1985. During high school, she was very active in drama and held lead roles in several plays, including the role of “Annie”. Kelly won several awards and was voted, among other things, “Class Favorite”.
After high school, she enrolled in Navarro Junior College in Journalism, where she earned an Associates Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. As part of her studies, Kelly was a News Broadcaster at the college’s own local cable TV Station.
Upon completion of her studies to earn her Associates Degree in 1990, Kelly was accepted to attend classes at Texas A&M University. She worked a full-time job at Quality Pontiac, and used grants and financial aid to pay her own way thru college. Kelly was interested in Native American Cultures which sparked her interest to earn a Degree in Anthropology from Texas A&M which she received on May 14, 1993.
After graduation, Kelly began a 19 year career as a Financial Aid Advisor with Texas A&M on August 26, 1993. She was able to touch many with her wit and humor as she left her imprint throughout the Financial Aid Department. This will carry on and be evident with the many nicknames she put on most of her co-workers including Lady Bug, Suzy Fluzy, Red, and Scottie Wottie Booger Snotty. On her last visit with Kelly, Delisa, her boss of many years, asked several of her family members, “Do you know how smart she is? Kelly can do anything”. She was also known at work for playing Christmas Music in her office as the holidays approached. She loved Christmas, and was always ready for the Christmas Spirit to come around. She met the love of her life, Jim Reynolds, whom she married on November 4, 1996.
Kelly is preceded in death by her brother Wade Wilson. She is survived by her husband Jim Reynolds and daughters Avery and Riley of Caldwell, and step-son Cpl.
