Larry Lester Beasley, 72, passed away Thursday, April 11 at Hospice Brazos Valley after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer and other health issues. Larry was strong in his faith and loved the Lord. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 15 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery of College Station. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Larry was born February 11, 1947 in Cleveland, Texas, the son of Glen and Fannie Alice (McCaskill) Beasley. He was employed as a carpenter by TAMU and later worked for Jack Hilliard Distribution Company. He enjoyed going to the casinos; he especially loved going fishing and camping with his brother-in-law Charles. He was an avid domino player and enjoyed playing 42 with family and friends. Wood working was a special hobby for him and he made many gifts for the family. He enjoyed playing the guitar until he removed his thumb with a table saw. It was a tradition to make a trip to San Angelo during Thanksgiving to purchase pecans which he shelled one by one to provide nice pecans halves for the family for Christmas.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Matejka Beasley of Bryan (the girl next door); brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Jackie Beasley of San Angelo, Jerry and Lillian Beasley of Caldwell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Madeline and Vernon Keith of Gilmer, Vickie and James Boriski of Hawkins; sister-in-law, Verda Mae Beasley of College Station; brother-in-law, Willard Morgan of Gladwater; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charlene Lusk of College Station, Mae and Joe Fazzino of Bryan, Frank and Dana Matejka of Perris, CA., Sue Matejka of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Beasley; sister, Wanda Morgan; brothers-in-law, Curtis Lusk, Charles Matejka and Willie Matejka.
