Lucy Rodriguez Castillo, 64, of Bryan, Passed away Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan with Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery
Lucy was born July 23, 1947 to Guadalupe Gonzales and Daniel Rodriguez in Houston, Texas. She moved to Bryan with her family when she was one years old. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan in 1965.
She worked for a number of years at Love’s Grocery as a meat wrapper before managing and working in the family’s lawn care business, the Big A Lawn Service. Lucy was the best cook in town and people always asked for her recipes. Everyone was always welcome at her home. Lucy had a great sense of humor, and she was very loveable, classy lady.
She was a golden mother and loved her family. She kept them smiling with her quick wit and her Texas accent. She loved country western music and country western dancing. She was the rock and peacemaker of the family. She was a rare jewel and will be missed by a lot of people.
She was preceded in death by one son, Adrian R. Castillo on August 21, 1984, and her parents, Guadalupe and Daniel Rodriguez; two brothers, Daniel and Roy Rodriguez; and one sister, Sara Rodriguez.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Castillo of Bryan; nine children, Pete Castillo, Jr. of San Antonio, Daniel Castillo, Yolanda Castillo-Molina, Christy Anna Ybarra, Thomas James Castillo and wife Fay, Crystal Lynn Castillo, Melissa Lucy Castillo, Matthew Castillo, and Adrian Castillo, II, all of Bryan; twelve brothers and sisters, Julio Rodriguez of Bryan, Jerry Rodriguez and wife Alice of Wharton, Linda Camarillo and husband Juan of Crockett, Betty Perez and husband Eusebie, Mary Guillen and husband Pedro, Robert Rodriguez, Raymond Rodriguez, Jr., Gravida Rodriguez, Sandra Reyes, Ted Rodriguez, Kristi Sanchez and husband Abel, and Ramona Mur̃iz and husband Robert, all of Bryan; twenty-nine grandchildren, Stephanie Castillo, Pete Castillo, Eva Castillo, Valentino Castillo, Jeanie Castillo, Sarah Castillo, identical twins , Daniel Castillo, Jr. and Adrian Castillo III, Tiffany Castillo, Diane Castillo, Rose “PKO” Lauren Castillo, Andrew James Castillo, Jeremy Dean Castillo, Alexander Ray Castillo, Julius Kane Ybarra, Marissa Lyn Ybarra, Thomas James Castillo, Jr., Shane Castillo, Beth Ann Castillo, James Nathan “Bucky” Castillo, Aston “Cito” Castillo, Mia Macy Macias, Penelope “PK” Kohl Portillo, Colton “Bubba J” Portillo, Jordan Castillo, Lilly Castillo, Cameron Castillo, Caliyah and Ca΄Mareua Castillo, all of Bryan; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
