Martha Dominik Rosier

Martha was born on July 10, 1942 at Old Bryan Hospital in Bryan, Texas to Charlie and Gertrude Todd Dominik. Her beginnings were humble- in a home on farmland on Rock Prairie Road, with no electricity or running water, but filled with love. Martha’s love and value of family was instilled early and was lived out, as her grandfather lived with her family, and many cousins lived on the surrounding property. When Martha was in third grade, her family purchased land on Leonard road in Bryan, and moved there from College Station, in a wagon driven by her grandfather. She spent most of her life on Leonard road, which became more than a “road” to Martha. It symbolized family, friends, and a way of life that she cherished.

She began her school years at A&M Consolidated in College Station. From there she went to Crockett Elementary in Bryan, where her class would go on to be the first to attend Anson Jones Junior High, getting to choose the mascot and the school colors. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Martha’s love for people began early in life and was shown throughout her school years, as she built life- long friendships- some of which still exist today. After graduating high school, she attended McKenzie-Baldwin Business College, receiving an education in which she took great pride, and used throughout the course of her life.

Another lifetime achievement for Martha was being an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was baptized in 1954 at St. Joseph Church by Msgr. Gliessner. Martha loved her church deeply and served faithfully. The sacrament of receiving the Eucharist remained very important and special to Martha, and she was blessed to be able to receive it at home when she could no longer physically attend church.

At a young age, Martha married Tommy Josey. From that union came three beautiful children; Paula Kaye, Beverly Denise and Thomas Drake, whom she said to be the greatest accomplishment of her life. She managed to both successfully raise her children and work full time. In 1976, Martha married James Marion Rosier, and for forty-two years they enjoyed being best friends and dance partners until his death in 2018.

Martha believed in the value of hard work and didn’t shy away from it. That was shown by her career that spanned over fifty years. Her business school education afforded her various opportunities to hold office, secretarial, and accounting positions. Beginning as a Credit Bureau reporter, and continuing by working at The Housing Authority, Brazos Valley Concrete & Lumber Co, Lone Star Gas, and the City of Bryan, where she worked until she retired in 2004. In her retirement, she enjoyed time spent with old friends- anything from high school reunions, picnics, dances, or regular lunches with the “Old Honeys”, her cherished friendships remained a priority.

Martha’s greatest joy and delight in life was being a Mimi to her grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was always there for them with a doting smile, warm hug, or bowl of Blue Bell. Martha’s love for the Lord, family, and traditions meant that she always found room at her table, in her home, and in her heart. This found her “adopting” many people along the way, and the list of her “extra” children is extensive. She was known for the deep love and care that she freely gave to so many.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gertrude Dominik, her husband James Marion Rosier and her great-granddaughter Kameryn Young. She leaves a legacy of loved ones who will cherish her memory: her sister Bettie Peters and husband Duane, her children and their spouses, Paula Kaye and Roger Adams, Beverly and Larry Young, Drake and Jodi Josey; her grandchildren, Lindy Beasley and husband Chris, Crystal Schinzler and husband Mark, Thomas Ray, Amber Dockins and husband Justin, Matt Young and wife Brooke, Bryan Ray and wife Amanda, Jordan Josey, Charli Josey; sixteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, several “adopted” kids, and countless special family members and friends.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Luminos Hospice, most especially Kameron and Olivia. The service and care they provided to Martha and our family was unmatched and deeply appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Hospice company of your choice, or St. Joseph Catholic School.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20th at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 S. College Ave in Bryan, from 5 – 8PM with Rosary at 6:30PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, August 21st at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 507 E. 26th St. in Bryan. Interment to follow at Mt Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
