Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 8, 1928. Married for 51 years to Stanley Milburn Brooks.
Neva Jo worked 20 years as the secretary for their Brooks Plumbing Repair Company in Bellaire, Texas. After retiring she became very active in several genealogy associations. She was a member of the John Person Chapter Colonial Dames 17th Century, College Station, TX for 25 years. She served as State Treasurer of CDXVIIC for 14 consecutive years. In The CDXVIIC Society she had 28 Ancestors and 24 Coats of Arms proven. She was a member of the Col. George Dashiell Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Normangee, TX for 31 years. She became a Life Member in 1993. She served on several DAR State Chair Committees. Other Genealogical Organization included: Hugenot Society of Texas – State Treasurer, Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar, National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons – State Treasurer, Polish Genealogy Society of Texas, New England Women, Hilltop Lakes Genealogy Society. Other Organizations included: Life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Life member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Plumbing Auxiliary Association from 1972 until retiring in 1986. She held the offices of State President, State Secretary, and State Parliamentarian. She attended the Hilltop Lakes Chapel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Milburn Brooks, mother and father Annie Thelma Rigney and Jeet Christopher Martin and 2 brothers.
Survived by daughter Pamela Jo Fidler and husband Richard L. Fidler; son, Jerry Leroy Brooks; and daughter Shirley Jean Bland and husband Tommy Wynn Bland. Grandchildren: Kelly J. Dalton and husband John Dalton, Darren R. Melcer and Randy S. Melcer. Great Grandchildren: Luke A. Melcer and Leah J. Melcer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hilltop Lakes Interdenominational Chapel.
