Ninfa Alvarado, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt "Tia" and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 63 years old.
Ninfa was born on September 1, 1962, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Eugenio and Isidra De La Torre. She was raised in Lake Worth, Florida, where she grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit family and lifelong friends. In 2007, she moved to Bryan, Texas, which became her home for the remainder of her beautiful life.
To know Ninfa was to know pure joy. She was unapologetically the life of the party, always ready to dance, sing, and bring laughter to any room she walked into. Whether she was breaking out her signature robot dance or hitting a high note, her energy was infectious. She was famously known for throwing the biggest and best gritos, a true reflection of her passionate, enthusiastic spirit.
Ninfa poured her heart into her many talents; she was legendary for making the absolute best tamales—earning her the title of the ultimate "Tamale Queen"—and she loved cooking, baking, and crocheting beautiful creations that will be cherished forever by those lucky enough to receive them.
Central to everything Ninfa did was her profound love and faith in God. Her devotion was the guiding light of her life, giving her strength, grace, and an endless capacity to love others. She lived her faith through her kindness, her generous heart, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met, leaving a lasting example of devotion for her entire family.
Above all else, Ninfa loved her family deeply. They meant the absolute world to her, and she dedicated her life to being a fierce protector, a proud supporter, and a constant source of unconditional love for them.
Ninfa is reunited in heaven with her parents, Eugenio and Isidra De La Torre, and her brothers, Antonio and Angel De La Torre.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will live on through her husband of 45 years, Frank Alvarado; her children, Nina Garcia and husband Robert, Cynthia Alvarado and husband Jose Ortiz, Frank Alvarado and wife Teresa and Cristian Alvarado; her cherished grandchildren, Veronica Ortiz and husband Isaac Resendiz, Ellena Ortiz, Daniella Ortiz, and Lorenzo Alvarado; her precious great-granddaughter, Viviana Resendiz; her beloved furbaby, Chico; and her beloved grandpup, Kilo Alvarado.
She also leaves behind her brothers, Luis De La Torre, and Santos Martinez and wife Alba; her sisters, Juanita Almazan and husband Jesus, Margarita Nerio, Candelaria Flores, and her twin sister, Rosa De La Torre; along with a large, loving community of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her vibrant spirit every single day.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Ninfa’s life and legacy during the following services, a visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 6 – 8 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 3 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Following the burial services at the cemetery, the family warmly invites everyone to join them back at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a time of fellowship, sharing memories, and gathering together.
