A rosary will be on Sunday, July 17, 2022 led by the St. Anthony’s Altar Society at 4:00 p.m. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 18, 2022. You may livestream the service at facebook.com/memorialbryan Interment will follow at Mt. Phyllis Grizzaffi Patranella was born on January 20, 1930, to Rosie Weido Grizzaffi and Peter Grizzaffi, in Bryan, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1948, in Houston, Texas.
Phyllis married her first and only love Sammy J. Patranella on June 12, 1949 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Houston, Texas, by Msgr. Smitzer. They were married for 69 years and taught their children the true meaning of love by their commitment to each other. Phyllis was kind and loving. Her faith in God and the love for her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She filled her home with warmth and kindness. Phyllis was one of a kind. To be loved by Phyllis was to be truly blessed. She will be deeply missed by all.
Phyllis and Sammy had four children. A son, James Samuel Patranella and wife Diane, and three daughters, Rosemary Kana and husband Steve, Janel Falco and husband Charles, and Frances Barnum and husband David. She had nine grandchildren, Gina Patranella, Sam Patranella and wife Abby, Adam Falco and wife April, Laura Falco and husband Paul Ables, Rachel Cox, Christopher Cox, Andrew Barnum and wife Caitlin, Alec Barnum, and Addison Barnum. Phyllis had ten great-grandchildren, Mary Grace and Ava Patranella, Sophia, Vincent and Giuliana Falco, Madison Little, Mason Franks, Levi Tyra, and Cannon and Cage Barnum.
Phyllis was a member of the St. Anthony’s Altar Society, Golden Years, Clerical Endowment and Ministry of Praise. She loved helping at the St. Anthony’s Bazaar and the St. Joseph table. Phyllis was a woman of great faith. The one thing that gave her the most joy in her life was taking care of her husband and family. It brought her great joy having her family gathered at their house celebrating holidays, birthdays and special occasions.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy J. Patranella, her parents Rosie Weido Grizzaffi and Peter Grizzaffi, brothers, Sam, John, and Anthony Grizzaffi.
Pallbearers – Son, James Patranella and Grandsons, Adam Falco, Sam Patranella, Christopher Cox, Alec Barnum and Addison Barnum, Nephew, Vince Patranella, and Cousin, Johnny Grizzaffi.

We thank Phyllis’s caregivers- Rita Rodriguez, Mary Rodriguez, Arlene Mosely and Victoria DeSantiago. They took wonderful care of her and loved her dearly. Also, we thank Traditions Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided Phyllis.
