As a young man, Robert was a force to be reckoned with in the boxing ring. He trained for a few years with The Bryan Boxing Club but his true passion was making people smile. He loved to draw, tell jokes, and play pranks on his family and friends.
Robert worked at Los Cucos Mexican Cafe for over 10 years, where he became famous for his infectious laughter and ability to make everyone feel like part of the family. He was the ultimate people person, always thinking of others and looking for ways to make their day better.
When he wasn't working or making people laugh, Robert loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews, who adored him. He was the favorite uncle, always ready with a joke, a game, or a funny face to make them giggle.
But Robert's true freedom came when he was riding his bike around town. He loved the sun on his face, and the feeling of cruising down the streets of Bryan. His bike was his trusty steed, and he rode it everywhere.
Robert was also a master tinkerer and fixer. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together, just to see how they worked. He was always happy to lend a hand to family and friends. He took great pride in being able to make things work again.
Robert's other passions included listening to Tejano and classic rock music and enjoying cold beers and BBQs with his brothers. He was also a master of finding treasures at Goodwill, and his family and friends will never forget his legendary late-night walks with the family dog, Foolio.
Robert is survived by his mother, Ofelia Lopez, his siblings, Debbie Lopez, Dorothy Lopez, Theodore Jr. & Yvonne Lopez, Richard Lopez, Jeanette & Frank Joe Garcia, David Lee Lopez and Reginald Lopez; nieces and nephews, Monica & Brian Garza, Sydney & Nicholas Cable, Cierra Lopez, Anthony Douglas, Calyssa Lopez, Nathan Lopez & Jazmine Lopez; great nephews and nieces, Alexandrew Rollo, Harlee & Jasper Cable. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Ted Lopez, his sister, Diann Lopez Brown, and his nephew, Andrew Martinez.
So, let's raise a cold one (or two, or three...) to Robert Lopez, the funniest, most loving, and most generous guy we knew. Our “Funcle” You will be deeply missed, but your memory and legacy will live on in our hearts and laughter."
