Rosemarie was born in Danzig-Landau, Germany on November 9, 1929 to Kurt and Erna Jochem. Danzig-Landau, Germany was a free state and after World War II it became Gdansk, Poland. She grew up and went to school in Fussen, Germany. During World War II, she met her husband to be, and in 1948, she became the “War Bride” of Alton Byron Dean. They soon began their large family of six children, with their first child, a son, Arthur Karl Dean being born in Germany.
Due to the military, she was able to travel and see the world and met new friends along the way. Alton retired here in the Bryan/College station area to be close to his family and raise his children. She brought a lot of her German traditions with her, one being the tradition of St. Nick. She was best known for her German Chocolate Cake, Marble Cake, and Plum Cake. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren, and visits from friends of which she always had goodies and coffee to offer. She loved to play Bingo.
Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her children, Arthur Karl Dean and his wife, Debbie, of Bryan, Barbara Dean Kucera and husband, Billy, of Bryan, Charles Bryan Dean and his wife, Becky, of Bryan, Deborah Dean Junek of Bryan, Alton Roy Dean of Snook, and Sandra Dean Bailey and husband, Mel McMullin, of Bryan.
