Sandra Sue Zweifel

On July 28, 2026, Sandra “Honey Memaw” Rockey Zweifel experienced the reunion she had been waiting for, being welcomed into the arms of her Savior and reunited with the love of her life, Al, and her beloved son, Shannon.

If Memaw could have written one part of this herself, she would have made one thing very clear: please don’t say she “passed peacefully".” As she always joked, “How do we know if it was

peaceful?” Instead, we know something even better. We know she is completely healed, free from every burden of illness, and wrapped forever in the loving embrace of Jesus, where there

is no more pain, suffering, or sadness.

Sandra was the definition of strength and courage. For 33 years, she faced leukemia with remarkable determination, refusing to let it define her or steal her joy. She fought with incredible resilience while continuing to pour her heart into the people she loved most.

And love she did, fiercely, wholeheartedly, and without reservation. If you were lucky to be loved by Memaw, you knew it. Her family and friends were her greatest treasure, and she celebrated every milestone, holiday, and even the smallest moments that made life beautiful.

She had a flair for creativity that seemed almost effortless. An incredibly talented seamstress, Sandra could transform an ordinary button-up shirt into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Her hands were always creating, decorating, or making something beautiful. She believed every season and every celebration deserved to be special, and her home always reflected that joyful spirit.

Sandra also had a few things she loved that made everyone smile. She never met a pair of shoes she didn’t admire, and her love for Mickey Mouse and the magic he represented always brought out her childlike joy. She reminded those around her that there was always room for a little magic, a little celebration, and a lot of love.

She was preceded in death by and reunited in Heaven with her husband, Albert Zweifel; son, Shannon Zweifel; mother, Gertrude Rockey; father, Errol Rockey; brother, Walter Rockey; sister, Louise Rockey; brother, James Fred Rockey.

Sandra leaves behind family and friends who will continue her legacy of unwavering faith, fierce love, joyful celebration, and resilient strength.

While our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice in the promise that this goodbye is only temporary. We can only imagine the celebration that welcomed her home and know that Papa Al has already talked her into a dance or two in Heaven. As we move forward, we’ll be watching for two redbirds, a gentle reminder that they are together again, still cheering us on, and forever with us in spirit. Until we meet again, Honey Memaw, thank you for teaching us how to love boldly, celebrate often, create beauty wherever we are, and trust God through every season.

The Zweifel family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph Hospital and the caregivers at Hospice of Brazos Valley for their dedicated support as they helped Memaw

through the final stages of life.

Graveside service will be held at Restever Memorial Park Cemetery, 5103 N Texas Ave in Bryan on August 6, 2026, at 10:00 am.
