The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, September 9th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A celebration of her life is scheduled for Monday, September 10th at 11 AM at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Wheat Cemetery in Millican.
Sylvia was born on October 27th, 1925 in Bryan, TX. She was the youngest child born to Ed and Frances (Luza) Putz. She was married to Warren R. King and together they had four children. She was married to Taylor Willingham and had one child. Sylvia was well known for her kind smile, sweet demeanor, sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and love of travel. She will be remembered for her talent for baking the best cakes, wearing her “Hollywood” sunglasses, and gardening. She also loved to read and spend time with her adoring family. She was a member of the Bryan United Pentecostal Church for many years where she loved to worship. In addition, she was an active member in the Millican community. She served in various capacities in the Millican Ladies Club, the Wellborn Lions Club, volunteered with Meals on Wheels at the Cawthon Center, served as a polling volunteer for Brazos County, Pct 1. and volunteered with RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) for over 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter, Cheryl (King) Schoenewolf, brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Putz and Lillian, Adolph Putz and Mildrene, Bill Putz and Alice; sister, Pauline Higgins; and brother-in-law, Bill Sims.
She is survived by her children, Stanley King of Gause, Lesley King and wife Cindy of Chriesman, Robert Willingham of Navasota, and Debbie Huff and husband Gene of College Station; sister, Frauline Sims of College Station; 10 grandchildren, Kim King, Sarah Olsen and husband Robbie, Brian Johnson and wife Kim, Kristi Bellah and husband Chad, Michael King and wife Christian, Stephanie King, Justin King and wife Morgan, Amber Huff, Ashley Gage and husband Erik and Amanda Sanders and husband Eric; 19 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaylie, Maddie, Layla, Austin, Aston, Luke, Max, Britton, Carson, Hagen, Tyler, Hudson, Cooper, Hunter, Jaxson, Anabelle, Weston, Cooper; and was loved by a host of nieces and nephews, many friends, as well as the lives her smile touched.
