Theresa graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1966. She married her love, Don Dabbs on August 5, 1967. She was a dedicated bookkeeper and secretary/treasurer of Dabbs Oil Co. for 40+ years.
Theresa was a woman of strong faith and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan. She loved her Catholic faith. She shared her love for her faith by teaching religious education to children for many years. Theresa volunteered at numerous church activities and was an active member of St. Anthony Altar Society.
Theresa was devoted to her family and took great pride in her Sicilian Heritage. She was an amazing cook. She loved to read, shop, and take walks on the beach. Theresa was an avid fan of Aggie sports, and particularly loved Aggie men’s and women’s basketball. She enjoyed traveling, especially gambling in Las Vegas or a quick road trip to Louisiana. Theresa was fortunate to travel to Sicily twice to see the homeland of her ancestors.
Theresa fought a 13 year battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. She had a stem cell transplant on July 10, 2009. This was considered her rebirth and was the defining day of her love for butterflies: the symbol for renewed life. Not a day went by without Theresa wearing a butterfly, and not a gift or signature was given without a butterfly.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Anne Stratta and her In-Laws, O.D and Mertie Dabbs.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Don Dabbs; her daughters, Michelle Dabbs and Dana Dabbs; her sister, Dianna Nowak; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dale Nichols; and her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Gary Stevener (all of Bryan); her aunts, Providence Lombardo of Marlin, Texas and Mary Beth Caston of Round Rock, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Erin Fleener and the staff of St. Joseph Cancer Center in Bryan, MD Anderson in Houston, Oncology nurses at CHI St. Joseph and Hospice Brazos Valley.
