Tommy M. Ramirez Sr.

Tommy was born on December 22, 1935 to Marcos and Andrea (Mosqueda) Ramirez. He was a member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 229 for many years.

His early employment included Texas A & M’s Sbisa Dining Hall and Zarape’s Mexican Restaurant. He later joined his brother Paul at Bacon Interiors where they worked side by side for many years. In 1975, Paul established Ramirez Upholstery and Tommy worked there for many years. In 1987, Tommy began his employment with Brazos County and in 2004 after 17 years he retired.

Tommy enjoyed dancing, watching old westerns and sports, especially his Aggies. He was known to be a sharp dresser, always wearing his nicely pressed khakis and his freshly polished shoes. Just as shiny as his shoes were the many cars he owned throughout his life. It has been said that Tommy washed and polished his cars every day as he didn’t want as much as a fingerprint on them.

Tommy loved his family and was a great husband and father. As a grandfather and great grandfather, his love and commitment was unmatched.

Tommy was preceded in death by his son, Paublo “Paul” Richard Ramirez; his parents, Marcos and Andrea Ramirez; siblings, Jose Ramirez, Louis Ramirez Sr., Virginia Mendez, Paul Ramirez Sr., Johnnie Ramirez Sr., and Margaret Rosas.

He leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Minnie (Guerra) Ramirez; children, Tommy (Olga) Ramirez Jr., Rudolph (Jennifer) Ramirez Sr., Tony (Maria) Ramirez, and Theresa (Tony) Romero; Grandchildren, Tiffany (Tony) Hernandez, Tommy (Daniella) Ramirez, Kevin Ramirez, Rudolph Ramirez Jr., Jordan (Ismael) Razo, Preston Galindo, Morgan Galindo, Candace (Coy) Robertson, Cierra Ramirez, John (Isaac) Salazar Ramirez, Isaiah (Fatima) Rodriguez, Ashley (Arthur) Hernandez, Haley Romero, Anthony (Sydni) Romero, and Trinity Romero; Great grandchildren, Joel, Joaquin, Joselyne, Luciano, Payton, Alysia, Landon, Sebastian, Aliyah, Isabella, Layla, Josiah, Elias, Alyssa, Nevaeh, Brandie, and Noah; Great-great grandchildren, Lyanna, Legend, R.J., Zayne, Christopher, and Abraham.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 23 at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 S. College Ave in Bryan, from 5 – 8 PM with a rosary recited at 6:30 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, July 24 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 308 S. Parker in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
